This method of treatment is very safe and has very minimal side effects. The needle used in this technique is thinner than needles used for vaccinations, and it produces a mild ache or a sensation of heaviness once being inserted into the treatment area.

What to expect during your acupuncture consultation?
- An experienced musculoskeletal physiotherapist will complete a thorough assessment of your condition, your medication history and past medical history and advise if acupuncture will be suitable for you
- It is an adjunctive treatment intervention and will be provided along with other forms of treatment including manual therapy, soft tissue massage, etc to ensure you got the most out of your treatment session (based on your choices of treatment once you have been explained of the available treatment interventions and their benefits for your condition by a physiotherapist)
- You will be explained of the various types of acupuncture and how they will be of benefit to you so you can make an informed decision on what you wish to go with
- Your appointment time will be of 30 minutes and will include consultation time, review of your symptoms and benefit from treatment and the treatment time
Your follow-up appointment sessions are expected to last for up to 30 minutes based on the condition/ area to be treated and the outcome achieved from the sessions
